Jean Timmins

My journey with Irish Wolfhounds started in 1983 when I got my first Wolfhound, and I bred my first litter in 1989. Since then, my life has always included Wolfhounds. I’ve had tremendous mentors, notably Pam and John Sumner of the Ballyphelan kennels, from whom I’ve had three hounds over the years. Life in this breed is never easy, and establishing myself as a breeder had several false starts. A pivotal moment came when a dear friend's final litter yielded Ch. Mallanigh Liberty, who became the foundation of my Cornovi line, though I've only bred litters sporadically due to other commitments in life getting in the way.

My involvement expanded to judging the breed in the 1990s, and I gained the privilege of awarding Challenge Certificates in 2011. This led to further opportunities to judge internationally, both in the United States and across Europe.

Beyond breeding and showing I served as Secretary for the UK Irish Wolfhound Rescue Trust and now continue as a Trustee. Currently, I hold the position of Chair of the UK Irish Wolfhound Health group and a Trustee of the iwdb.org database. I hope to be an advocate for the health and welfare of the Irish Wolfhound, encouraging openness and transparency, and believing our international connections working together will ensure a sound, healthy, and safe future for our wonderful breed
